Drawing on more than two decades of experience in the art industry, Tim has worked as a private consultant for a variety of stakeholders in arts and culture, including art-tech startups, artists, and editorial brands.

DATA ANALYSIS

Now known as one of the leading data journalists in art media, Tim has been making sense of numbers in the culture sector for more than a decade. He has applied this skill set to several projects in both consulting and editorial capacities.

ArtTactic partnership (ongoing)
Since 2025, Tim has partnered with ArtTactic, one of the industry’s most respected market intelligence firms, to produce a monthly series of data-led stories on The Gray Market.
New Visions report (2025)

Tim performed high-level analysis on hundreds of survey responses from artists at varying career stages for Netvvrk, a platform that coaches artists on professional development. He collaborated with the company’s founder to select, organize, and write through the most relevant aspects of the datasets in the inaugural New Visions Report.

art-tech startups

Informed by his many years of reporting on the nexus of culture and technology, Tim has advised multiple early-stage companies on their business models and products, in key areas including AI, online education, and media.

artists

Combining his experience as an artist liaison during his gallery career and the extensive knowledge gained as an industry analyst, Tim has advised artists on their creative direction, professional strategy, and self-presentation in artist statements, film projects, and other public-facing materials.

Editorial

During his time as a staff editor at Artnet News, Tim played a key role in developing multiple editorial projects that have continued for years beyond his departure.

The Artnet Intelligence Report (2018-23)
With then executive editor Julia Halperin and editor-in-chief Andrew Goldstein, Tim conceptualized and helped project-manage a twice-yearly data journalism study that leveraged auction results from the Artnet Price Database and qualitative reporting on art-industry trends. (He also often wrote the cover story.)
The Back Room (2021-23)
To build out Artnet News’s paywalled Pro coverage, Tim conceptualized, designed, and wrote the publication’s first newsletter-based feature: a weekly summary of the most important developments in the art market, translated into succinct themed sections.
By the Numbers (2023)
With then editor Naomi Rea, Tim designed and wrote a regular feature distilling major evening auctions into essential data for industry professionals.
